Singer Usher makes chart history
Usher
Usher is on course to break another Beatles record in the US
R&B singer Usher has three singles in this week's Billboard top 10, a feat only previously matched by British bands the Beatles and the Bee Gees.

The 24-year-old star is at number one with Burn, at four with Yeah! and at nine with Confessions Part II.

The songs are taken from his album Confessions, which has now topped the Billboard album chart for eight weeks.

Confessions is only the second album this year to sell more than one million copies in its first week of release.

In March, Usher topped both the album and singles charts in the UK with Confessions and Yeah! respectively.

The Beatles scored three top ten US hits in 1964, an achievement repeated by the Bee Gees in 1978.

But Usher may equal another Beatles record if his new single, Confessions Part II, replaces Burn at the top of the Billboard chart.

That would give the Tennessee-born performer three consecutive US number ones, something that was last achieved by the Fab Four in 1964.

The Beatles singles in question were I Want to Hold Your Hand, She Loves You and Can't Buy Me Love.

Yeah! spent 12 weeks at the top of the Billboard chart, a feat only equalled by Smooth by Santana in 1999 and Eminem's Lose Yourself in 2002.
